Office of the Public Defender

15th Judicial Circuit Palm Beach County

Investigators

Investigators play a critical role at the Public Defender's Office, collecting and organizing what are often monumental amounts of information vital to obtaining favorable outcomes in the courtroom. Investigators hunt down hard-to-find evidentiary assets in person, conduct searches for digital records, locate and interview witnesses, interface with clients when appropriate, and work hand-in-glove with attorneys. As part of the team, investigators gather as much information as possible to assist the trial lawyers.

Social Services

The office's social workers are prepared to assist when clients require services and support. After thoroughly assessing the needs of clients, social workers connect them with behavioral and/or mental health professionals, substance abuse counselors, housing placement organizations, employment specialists, and those qualified to address other issues on a case-by-case basis. In addition to meeting clients' urgent short-term needs, the efforts of social workers as well as the individuals and organizations with whom they partner, contribute to increased opportunities for pre-trial release from incarceration and alternative sentencing options.
