Office of the Public Defender

15th Judicial Circuit Palm Beach County

Daniel Eisinger

"As prescribed by the United States Constitution, it is my duty and honor to provide the most marginalized and disadvantaged members of our community with exceptional legal representation. My staff and I are dedicated to the fierce protection of our clients' rights."

Daniel Eisinger

Elected Public Defender

Public Defender Daniel Eisinger grew up in Palm Beach County. He attended Suncoast High School in Riviera Beach, receiving an International Baccalaureate Diploma upon graduation. Daniel went on to earn both a B.A. (2000) and a J.D. (2003) from the University of Florida in Gainesville.

In December of 2003, he began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender under the County's previous Public Defender Carey Haughwout, who retired in 2025. For more than 20 years, he has represented clients charged in misdemeanor, felony, and major crime cases - including capital cases in which the state was seeking the death penalty. Prior to succeeding Ms. Haughwout as Public Defender in January of 2025, Daniel served 13 years on her leadership team and five years as her Chief Assistant (the office's senior most staff-level position); tried more than 175 jury trials; and helped supervise more than 200 staff, investigators, and attorneys. An experienced manager of people and budgets of up to $18.3 million, he has also recruited, selected, and trained young lawyers just starting their careers as Assistant Public Defenders.

Through his work as an attorney as well as an administrator, Daniel has aimed to reduce sentencing disparities and improve re-entry services for community members returning home after spending time in prison. He believes that Public Defenders are an integral force in keeping our communities safe. Public Defenders know best what services are needed to keep people from reoffending.

First as an employee of the Public Defender's Office and now as its elected leader, Daniel has been instrumental in establishing court programs to better serve clients and the community: the Misdemeanor Mental Health Court to connect low-level offenders suffering from mental health issues with mental healthcare professionals and the Driving Under Suspension Court.

He is a member of the National and Florida Association(s) for Criminal Defense Lawyers, a member of the Palm Beach Bar Association, and a graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County.

A family man, Daniel is married to Amy Eisinger. They have three active sons and a rescue pup named Chocolate Chip (CC).
